"Having grown up in an agricultural environment and this industry, farming has become an integral part of who I am as an individual. I feel satisfaction each day in the work we do, with the knowledge I am honoring my family’s heritage and upholding their long-standing commitment to growing high-quality fruit in the Alexander Valley." ~ Bret Munselle
Our Family, Our Land, Our Heart
Alexander Valley • Sonoma County
If you know Bret, you know he is passionate about family and farming. After earning his degree in Agricultural Economics from UC Davis, Bret was fortunate to work alongside his father, Bill, for many years before taking up the reins of the family business alongside an outstanding team of staff, supervisors, and crew members, many of whom have been a part of our work family for multiple decades.
Today, Bret is the face of Munselle Vineyards and a leader in the industry of vineyard management. He is also an active member of the Sonoma County Winegrape Commission, widely known for leading the charge in developing sustainable winegrape farming practices, which have now become the gold standard worldwide.
Over the past twenty years, Bret has diversified Munselle Vineyards to encompass not only the sustainable farming of our own vineyards, but also leased vineyard properties, vineyard management for external clients, and a livestock/grazing management division as an environment-friendly solution for fire protection and weed abatement. Buddy, our heroic Akbash guardian dog, and our adorable herd of goats can be spotted on pastures throughout the Alexander Valley, as can our mixed herd of cattle.

Currently, we farm eight distinctively different vineyard properties within the Alexander Valley, from the valley floor to the rolling hills and up into steeper terrains. This list includes a map, along with the location and vineyard details of each property.
